Heater Core Put-Back-Togetherness
Hi,
I have a 1970 Dodge Charger with A/C ... took apart my whole heater assembly and took out my leaky heater core ... found a new replacement from Year One, but i'm wondering what kind of sealant i need for the heater core copper-on-copper inlet/outlet tubes.... the ones that connect directly to the heater core to my copper pipes that lead out to the firewall. They really don't give you any tips when they send you that new heater core... And ideas? Thanks y'all.

the only heater core that i ever changed was on my old chevy truck, and it had new pipes already in.
is your heater core threaded or smooth. if threaded, i'd use liquid teflon sealant. if smooth, i'd guess its supposed to be soldered/sweated, like plumbing copper pipes. do you think a solder joint would be strong enough, or likely to crack when you start pushing/pulling/wiggling on the heater hoses ?
