Unhappy Headlight Madness

Howdy folks ... i have a 1970 Dodge Charger, base model. I have the hide-away headlamps, and the problem is that my low-beams wont turn on. However, if i switch on my brights, all four headlights work. I cannot figure out how to get my low-beams to work!

More details:

1. Whenever the headlight switch is off, the headlight covers are open.
2. Whenever the headlight switch is off, and i turn on the switch of the brights, the headlight covers close.
3. With the brights switch on, i can turn on the headlights OK. If my low-beams are on, nothing works.

Let me know if i can provide more detail. Thanks everyone!

Not sure if this will help or not...but having a 69 Charger myself, I'd look to the switch itself. To me, the problems you're experiencing seems to be "crossing wires" somewhere and the switch is the only place where the cover activation and illumination are handled. I'd try to drop the switch from the dash, leaving wiring attached. Then use a wiring schematic to see if the leads to the switch are in the right place. If they are, then the switch itself may be back...heck, they're 40 years old now.

Hope that helps...just what I'd do...

Could be the dimmer switch fubar, power flows through the dimmer switch to the dash switch also some vacuum hose dilema.
