Default 1974 Charger Budget Engine Build

A buddy of mine is restoring a 1974 Charger while we are out on deployment. He currently has a 360 magnum in it and a 727 trans. He was asking me to build him a engine when we get back. Im thinking I'm gonna go with a 408 stroker kit on a junk yard motor. Anybody had any experience with this build? He wants to keep it driveable on the street but would like to have plenty of power when he mashes down the throttle. Any suggestions or opinions?
