318 head gasket problems

318 head gasket problems
I am rebuilding the 318 from my 70 Charger. The new head gaskets I just got cover 3 of the water passages completely and partially block 2 more. The head gaskets that were on it had the same water passages covered also.
My question is "has any one else encountered this problem?"
2nd question is "are some of the passages supposed to be blocked?"
3rd question is "what will it hurt if I cut new holes in the gasket?"
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
