Replacing thermostat on a 1972 Dodge Charger 318 engine How do I replace the thermostat on a 72 Charger with a 318 engine?

Follow the upper radiator hose to the engine. Remove the thermostat housing there and replace it.

Yes. Those old engines are very easy to work on. Have you looked at it yet?

not yet I just bought the thermostat and the gasket for it but haven't started the work yet.
its been flushed out and after driving for just about 20 minutes it has started to get hot and the temp gauge is rising.
I thought replacing the thermostat would help.
Any other thoughts?

Yes, open the hood and inspect the cooling system.
