Default Cam Walk

I just installed a roller cam with a cam button into my 440 and I think I am hearing the cam "walk". Im using a chrome plated timing cover, which some have said that it could flex making the cam button useless. So how do I fix the cam walk or is there better timing cover?

Indy makes a nice aluminum cover that is rugged and won't flex like the stock tin cover with a roller cam button.

Thanks, but it looks like i would have to space out the water pump, which would throw off my belt alignment off. Do you think i could grind the pump down enough to clear it?

Daman, i don't think you can grind down the pump....you'd have to shim the other pullies to line up, i believe. I haven't used the indy cover because i don't need to with the solid flat tappet. Here's another option that i forgot to mention....

Magnum HP sells a billet cover as well. Greg Z is the owner and a great guy to deal with....i've bought some goodies from him and can't say enough about the quality and service. Give him a call and ask about the billet cover...he'll be more than happy to answer your questions. Best of luck.

For control of camwalk, I've used a 3/8-24 button head bolt with a jam nut welded to the cover, as a method of adjusting cam walk with a roller chain and button. With the cover off (duh) locate and weld the jam nut then fit the bolt by grinding bolt length once all is set tack weld button head bolt to the jam nut .010-.020 clearance works. Your noise also could be related to spring pressure load affecting rockershaft flexing don't know what you have but improved shaft retention helps with roller spring loads.
