Brakes make front park lights come
Working on a 68 Sport Satellite and when you step on brake, the front turn signals and park lights come on. I'm thinking this a bad ground or short, just need some ideas where to start first. Thanks in advance.
Hi gtxpooch,
Perhaps the bulbs are reversed in the sockets? (front and/or rear) I know that it is difficult, but I have seen bulbs forced into the sockets backwards (one tab on the bulb should be higher than the other). Also, the sockets seems to get soft or corroded over time and it makes it easier to put the bilbs in backwards.
I do not know about causing BOTH lights to come on at the same time though. I believe there could be many reasons for it. Does the wiring look like someone may have been splicing wires somewhere? Did someone add a third brake light?
I would look at grounds first, then the wiring at the base of the steering column, where the turn signal wiring plug is. Perhaps there is an issue there.
Hope that at least gets you started.

Hi Again,
After sucking paint fumes for the past hour, it dawned on me. Perhaps your hazard light circuit is coming into play. That would light up all four lights in the 'bright' mode. Back to the steering column.

Hi bdering, Thanks for the help. I thought about the 4way flasher, but they work just fine when turned on. I will start with the grounds and check the bulbs. The vehicle sat under a carport for approx. 10 years and was rat infested and I was/am thinking they chewed on wires. the left turn signal does blink really fast(like when a trailer is hooked up) the right side blinks normal. I'm pretty sure that it is all original wiring, can't see any splices anywhere. Stepping on brake stops whichever signal is on also. Thanks again.
Check your rear bulbs the one fillament could have broke and fell down on the other putting the juice from one side to the other.Dont sweat the petty things....and dont pet the sweatty things.
Check the bulbs for the side that flashes real fast. Change the FLASER pod from 4 way flasher to turn signal flasher see if that changes anything.
The turn signal switch in Column maybe be bad alsothe turn signals go through it also the flashers.
If it is broken it can cause strange thiongs to happen.
