Did you have brake issues before the booster replacement? Did you remove any brake lines? How's your master cylinder?

Did you replace the master cylinder? Have you tried bleeding the brakes?

Hi Signal 70,

You said that you replaced the booster. Was this a remanufactured part from a store? What kind of car is it going into? Do you have disk brakes in the front? Are you leaking fluid anywhere? Did you disconnect the lines from the master cylinder? And if so, did you bleed the front brakes? Can you pump the brakes to make them operate?

I replaced my booster last year and I got a reman from A1 Cardone through NAPA. The instructions that came with the booster mentioned adjusting the push rod length on the booster that makes contact with the master cylinder piston if necessary. I compared the old one and the new one and they were the same length so it was not necessary to make any adjustments and the one that I actualy got did not have an adjusting nut anyway. Either way, it could be that you got the wrong one. Sometimes they are boxed wrong...it happens. I compared the linkage rod as well before I attached the linkage to it. Did you compare the two boosters side by side? If you got a booster with a shorter push rod, that could be the issue with your pedal going to the floor and not getting much braking action.

Hope that helps...

Thanks man. Not bad for a Chevy, right? At the time the video was taken, the timing was way off (too retarded), the carb was too small (weak 750), I was having a major problem with the throttle linkage (not opening all the way ) and major exhaust leaks. I got the timing dialed in, put on a good 850, got the exhaust done right, and fixed the throttle. Without the M/T's, any gear is completely useless. I havn't launched the car yet, but from a 10 mph roll with the slicks, she squats and goes. Scary fast.

Motor ran a 12.2 @ 110 in a 4800 lb Impala. I figure if I can learn how to launch it right, my 3600 lb Chevelle should be good for 11's no problem.

Thank again,

Chris
