whats up everyone, just started a 69 coronet project. superbee clone most likely. can somebody let me know if theres a trick or an easier way to replace the starter, its real tough to get at. thanks, appreciate any help i can get.

 

I put one of those super starters on my RR.Basicly the newer ones that are on the magnum truck motors.Lots more room.

 

Same here, I swapped out the huge heavy original starter because of clearance issues with my header, it was too close for me yet not touching. It should be fairly easy if your Coronet has the original exhaust, but your screwed if it has headers, you'll almost certainly need to loosen the header to get the starter out. Get the lightweight Mopar Performance starter, it will fit perfect and be easy to get in and out with headers and it will crank the engine over far faster than the stock starter.

I'm glad to hear it. It's just amazing how it's so much smaller and lighter and turns the engine over 3 times faster. I never would have thought I could enjoy a frickin' starter, but it's just so much better than the lead heavy and slow stocker.

 

Or you could just go to the junk yard and get a small Mopar starter for cheap.

 

The only problem with that is the gamble of if it's good and how much life is left in it. It might last for the rest of your life or it might not last a month or two.
