Default SRT-8 Prices (selling prices, not MSRP, please), Anyone?

Has anyone had a serious face-to-face with a dealer yet? Got a feel for how long it will take for their prices to get down to the unreasonable mark? How long did it take for the SRT-10 trucks to get their prices down somewhat? thnx!

I can't get a dealer to be serious with me. They all feel I am there for the fun of it. CAN'T wait though. When I fonally get my car I am going to go to ALL the dealers that treat me like ****. When I walk in and they ask me if I need help I am going to point to the car and say. "NOPE! You're a little to late ...My Friend!" Ironicly one dealer I got great help from and was EXTREMELY curtious was a Local Lamborghini dealer. "Take a look around we have 2 new Murcielago's and a few Diablo's...let me know if you need anything" (smile) SOmeone said, I don't remeber what thread...that the dealers have SRT BROUCHERS for the mag...this true? Have not made it to one this weekend. Wish they had a BLACK srt mag at the CHicago autoshow!

I just read a very favorable Road & Track article about the SRT-8 Chrysler and it included that there is a $2,000 gas guzzler tax. That did not make my day and all ya'll others thinking about getting one should know the bad news. Does anyone know much about the gas guzzler taxes? Is it something that is going to phase out or get worse or what? What is the cut-off mileage or whatever that determines what gets hit? Thnx, from a possible SRT-8 buyer about the time the crazies get done paying over sticker. Somehow I figure about 10-11 months from now, maybe sooner, if I walk in out of the snow, a dealer might go for a bit under sticker, especially a salesman I have bought from in the past. Anyone hearing anything about people currently ordering and if so, what they are paying?

The SRT-8 on the Chrysler will have the gas guzzler tax. The SRT-8 Magnum will probably not have it since its classified as a truck.

The Magnums are trucks????? If that means no gas guzzler tax, great news!!! Nope, ramfan, the gas guzzler is not an excuse to do anything. It is what we want because our elected officials represent us and if they pass a law like that it must mean that is what we want, right? If not, you would have gotten ahold of your rep and senators by now and told them they are not doing a good job of representing you. As for gas prices, I contend they are not high, but they will be. So many people send money overseas to buy whatever that the dollar has plummeted in value and it simply takes more of them to buy the gas. Not long ago, it took $.88 to buy a Euro. Priced Euros lately? They cost over $1.30. People using Euros have not seen the oil prices rise recently because compared to the Euro and other currencies, oil has remained fairly steady. What is changing is the dollar. Also, as I grew up, the price of a gallon of milk and the price of a gallon of gasoline were the same. I know we use more gas than milk but have you priced milk lately? With the oncoming modernization of China and India, demand for oil will skyrocket and so will the prices. Supply and demand, pure and simple. Another reason gas goes up is our state laws. California passed laws that make it expensive to produce gas for that state and yet the populcae blames "'dem damned ARABS" for the prices. In Michigan, I was paying 5 cents sales tax for each gallon of gas not too long ago and now it is about 13 - 14 cents, so my state has raised the gas prices 8 - 9 cents per gallon in the last couple years. Whenever oil prices "rise (dollar actually falls)", the oil companies' stock values go up. That would be interesting to know more about.....

As soon as I discovered they were coming out with the SRT-8 for the Magnum I went to my local Dodge Dealer in Peoria AZ.

They could not have been nicer. A few weeks agoI put down a $5,000.00 deposit (that is refundable) for first right of refusal when one comes in. It is in writing and signed by not only the Sales Manager, but the owner of the dealership. In addition, they will not add any "bump" to the MSRP.

They not only gave me a Hemi Hat but called me immediately when they received the SRT-8 Brochure.

They did some checking and said that initially dealer allocation will be 3 to 4 for 2005.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for that input/info and congrats! ....but there is no price info in your message. Did they suggest or say you would be paying MSRP or what? Did you express a color pref?

Sorry about that. Yes no more than MSRP. As you are probably aware, they are only coming in 3 colors. Red, Black, and Silver. The dealer will not be able to order specific colors at the moment. If I don't like the one that comes in I go to the next one.

The Fleet Manager is working with me to see if I can get the color I want.

Gentlemen, my name is Cale Warden and I work for a Dodge Chrysler Jeep dealer in Wichita, KS. We were allocated one SRT-8 and it has been ordered. It won't last when it gets here so I'm trying to get the leg up on my fellow salespeople by contacting interested parties on the net to see if I can sell it before they do. No bulls*&t, no games, no additional dealer markup. I work for a dealer whose integrity is more important than a couple extra grand. We will be selling this SRT-8 for MSRP ONLY!!!!!!! The only other fees the dealership has are a $159 admin fee for paperwork and a tire tax of $1. Anyone interested in this vehicle please contact me via email or call me at 316-708-5417. 1st guy to call and put a non refundable deposit on this car gets to pay for it when it gets here. No BS guys. I am available at work also all day at 800-685-8584. Let me know if I can help. Thanks.

PS. This is for the Chrysler 300 SRT-8, by the way as that is the one we have coming in but as soon as we are alotted a Magnum I can take care of that as well.
