Chains on an SRT-8?
Forgive me if you've read this on another forum as I've cross-posted this.
I am going to pick up my new Magnum in northern Idaho this weekend. The weather service is expecting the weather to get gnarly (very cold, lots of snow, and icy conditions) and we have a 9-10 hour drive home to western Oregon. I called Les Schwab's to see if I could get a set of the 20" cable chains to take along, but they didn't know if the car can take a set of chains due to clearance issues. They recommended that I look in the owner's manual, which I don't have (yet). I expect to drive home Sunday, so I can't pick up chains after I pick up the car.
Does anyone know if these cars can be chained up?

When i purchased my RT the dealership had me sign an acknowledgement waiver stating to not use chains on my vehicle. Since i did'nt anticipate the need for them i did'nt question it. Others have told me that is due to the high horsepower and torque on the rear wheels that is could be hazardous and damaging.
Don't quote me though.

I wouldn't do it. Not only may you have a clearance issue, but I am sure the suspension may not like them either. Shaould've ordered it with the All-Season performance tire option.
