Hi, I just got my new Charger SRT-8 Brilliant Black on Sat. What an awesome ride. I have noticed that when I pull it in the garage, I hear a whine if I put it in Park and let it idle. It stops when I rev the engine. Any ideas on what might be happening or is this normal?

Some have said it's the steering pump being low. I filled mine and no difference.

Looks like most people have this issue.

 

This is not normal ! Take it to the shop they told me it is an internal engine problem. I have had this problem for 4 weeks now and has been in shop for most of time. My torque converter was replaced. No luck. Then they replaced the trans pump. No luck. Engineers not sure what is happening yet. I'll try to keep u posted. My advise is take it in and talk to Service manager and let him hear it.

 

I took it in, the service manager heard the whining sound and had one of the mechanics listen to it. They want to remove the belt. I told them it is not the belt. You can hear it when the engine is warm from the top end and it sounds like it's in the heads, but if you crawl underneath, the sound is the loudest where the engine meets the transmission. He said it would just be trial and error and that they would have to call Chrysler on it. I am scared to take the car in if they don't have any direction on how to go about fixing the problem. Any updates or advice that you can give me would be appreciated.
