Magnum SRT8
Does anyone else around Calgary own one of these cars,I have an Inferno red one.Has anyone had a complete failure due to the transmission whine??ar any other catastophic failures for that matter??All things aside,a great car.
Hey Roadbone! Congrats on your Magnum.
I have a Charger SRT-8 and it makes the same whining noise that your Magnum does. From what I understand, this is a common occurrence in the SRT-8 vehicles. I have nearly 4000 km put on my car, and I drive quite aggressively- no problems so far.
Naturally, I took her into the dealership just to be safe. The "techs" there wanted to pull the transmission apart, but I refused to let them after the horror story I heard from another forum member on this board. Take my advice: just try and ignore the whine. If it craters, you will get a new one under warranty. Don't risk having the mad scientists at the dealership pull it apart, you will just end up opening a "Pandoras Box".
Aside from the tranny problem, I have had a few other minor issues. First off, the brake pads squealed like a stuck pig- that was fixed via a technical service bulletin. Second, I have an annoying squeak in my dash that appears to be unfixable. Thirdly, I have an issue with my passenger-side 6x9 making odd "thwarp" noises when playing only certain songs (the nimrods at the dealership tried to tell me it was blown, but they were proven wrong after they replaced the speaker and it still made the noise). Presently, I haven't been able to resolve the issue with the 6x9. My best guess is that it's an amplifier setting problem. I might just end up taking it to some friends of mine over at Visions who actually know what they're doing when it comes to car audio. Lastly, I have found that the paint gets rubbed off of the bumper when the trunk is opened and closed. Other than that, I have thoroughly enjoyed my Charger. LoL
