Finally getting some action with my squealy brakes!
Yes, that's right! After months of enduring my "loud as a train slowing down" brake squeal, I may finally find peace! Two days ago when I had my 10 000 km service done on the Charger, I had the opportunity to sit down and chit-chat with the service manager about how the TSB replacement brake pads had virtually no effect on my squealing problem (AND how my rotors had become significantly grooved!). After we had taken a quick test-drive so that he could hear how severe the problem still was, he promised me that he would call up the engineers at Chrysler and find a final solution.
Not more than an hour ago, I received a call-back from this gentleman. The rumor that the '07 SRT-8s will get vented rotors is TRUE. As well, there WILL be a TSB released very shortly that will call for all the SRT-8s prior to '07 to have their brake rotors retrofitted if they show signs of rotor grooving (the probable cause for the continued brake noise). This came as a relief to me as I feared I might have had to pay for the upgraded rotors out of my own pocket. Finally, an end to all the embarassment of those blasted brakes...now all I need is for them to find out why my transmission whines like a lama in heat whenever it is warmed up to operating temperature! lol
