Default Exhaust Question

I was thinking about putting on Magnaflow mufflers for a deeper sound. I'm not too worried about the performance gains, I just want it a little louder. Does anyone know what the purpose of those two resonator things are at the exhuast tips? Can I safely remove them?
Thanks JM

Actually, the resonators aren't back by the exhaust tips like the good old days, those are your mufflers. The resonator is the suitcase looking thing where you'd expect to see your mufflers. I had the resonator removed by a local muffler shop and I'm very happy with the results. The sound is just right during idle and cruising around town, but when you step on it, look out! It probably freed a couple HP too and its 10 lbs. of dead weight gone. ENJOY!!!

Got a brand new set of JBA mufflers for sale (3" inlet/outlet) if interested...They are from the JBA EVOL catback. Good deep sound.
