I have an 06 Magnum SRT8 with 2400 miles. When I checked the coolant there is a strong ammonia smell with some foamy white stuff in the res. Also some evidence of leakage (spots of white stuff under hood) Does any one else have this problem?

 

My parents had 1300 miles on there srt8 charger, my dad cleaned the car religiously one day cleaning the engine bay he noticed 2 small pin holes leaking pinkish fluid and a white residue line. It was in the front of the block kinda right behind the water pump coming out of the painted orange BLOCK. That's not good! My parents weren't to happy! they were just gonna deal with it because they didn't want the dealer messing with it, but that's stupid to have a new car with a leak! so back to the dealer!dealer said there were 2 small pinholes in the block and that they wanted to try and weld them up!That's great if it works but they had to put the car on a tow truck to get it to the welder.So my dad saidok but if the car gets messed up I want another one! In the end carsfront bumpergot destroyed by the tow truck, weld didn't hold mad it worse! So they had to put a short block in, dodge gave us the car back said here drive this till your new one comes in. We had fun with that! New car came old car went back to dodge supposedly sold at an auction! Hope your leaks out of a hose or something good luck!

Sorry to here about your parents problems I hope everthing worked out ok. I have read on some other forum about this problem with the 6.1L. Apperently SRT enginers are working on a TSB to fix the "coolant problem". Some people claim water pumps going down as well resivors leaking and the res cap gasket being faulty.If anyone else has these problems let it be know to your dealer atleast.SRT engineers have indicated to take your car to the dealer if you smell Ammoniaand have the dealer call the dealer zone rep.

Yea for the most part everything went well. They now have 13,000 mile on there new one and so far so good. Ill be sure to tell them to be on the lookout though. Good luck

 

Same problem with my Charger. I'm patiently[:@] waiting for the fix!
