Need Help with a 1974 Dodge Dart
My best friend got a 1974 Dodge Demon for her birthday. It is in "questionable" condition but it still runs. I am planning on helping her restore it. We can't wait until its fished. But we have a few problems-- we don't know where to get parts (we want origanal ones) and we don't know how much this is going to cost. We do have a friend who knows how to work on cars who is willing to help us by doing some free labor. Her parents and family are willing to put in $1500 I am giving her $1,000 plus all the time and energy I can, and she has saved $1,200 so far to fix up the car. How much do you think it will cost us to completley resotre the car. (we know we will need more money) but how much? the car is in not good condition. Please help us out.
How much "restoration" are you planning? a nut and bolt or making it a nice driver? If you can find some of the "Mopar" magazines like Mopar Action, Mopar Muscle, Mopar Collector's Guide most have done something on your body style.
The "cost of restoration" depends on many factors...
Quality of work
Cost of parts
Extent of resto
Condition of project
You say it's in bad shape, it may not be worth restoring, maybe just fix up the car to make it safe and presentable, it still could get quite costly depending on what is needed to get it safe. Pics and a little more info on what it really needs might help in answering your question a bit better.
