Manual valve body transfer plates are different from stock, most manual vb's have a reverse shift pattern. Throttle pressure adjustments affect the shift quality/timing and even though not a manual vb throttle pressure can be over ridden with a manual adjustment instead of using the stock linkage.
Look at the front band material, if it's still there you may want to try front and rear band adjustment and a fresh filter/fluid to see if it works. The other choice is to pull it out and go through it.
