440 code ?
i have a 440 with the numbers of 9t44 e ..it is out of a rv.is this basically the same as a 70 440.i think it comes out to a 79 440 built at the trenton plant.also e is cast crank.can anyone tell me if this is correct. thank you kevin
How are those arranged on the block? The top line should have the year and displacement codes, the second/middle line has the build date and the last/bottom lineshould have any other info such as the E for a cast crank. The 9 makes no sense since the first digit should be a letter for the year code. The T indicates a truck engine. The two 4's should have the 0 with it.
The 440 was produced through 1978, so it shouldn't be a '79. The late 70's 440's have thinner cylinder walls than the earlier ones.
