68 dart
hey guys i have a 68 dart that i am planning to build and i already know what i want to do its just a matter of time before i do it and i have the money to do all the work i was just wondering what do you guys think of a 360 engine i haven't seen a lot of them in darts and would like something different but it could have came from the factory just a higher performance if you know what i mean so just let me know what you guys think thanx
The 360 replaced the LA 340 block in 1974, but it was not available in the sixties. The 360 LA block was used form 1971-2002,

The LA block 273 was available in Darts of that era, and the LA block itself didn't change much from the 273 through the 360. There may be motor mount differences, the transmission needs to be considered for a stronger motor, and for sure the rear end will need to be looked at.
The 360 would be a good conversion, just be aware that it's more than just plug and play. I would look araound at some of the other MOPAR sites for experiences, tips, and tricks

well the reason i would like to do it is b/c you dont see the darts with 360s in them and i already have to convert from a 6 cylinder so i wanted to stay with a small block but didnt want the 340 everyone has that and i want my car to be different
my thought was to go a junk yard and look for an older truck with a 360 a 4 speed and a rear end to go with it because they will be heavier duty and be able to handle more power even tho i dont want to go that high i want to aim for 400 horse or more and with a 360 and putting good parts in it i think i can get that so what year did they start putting the 360s in the trucks?
Thats a good idea(truck motor / trans / rear differential), try to find a truck from the late "70"s with a Dana 60 in it. It" what I did, and my "72 Duster is just about grenade proof and it"s got an 8,500lb towing capacity !!!...kingoftow
