Default 4 speed swap

I have a 1974 plymouth duster that im building to be a street racer and to play with at the drag strip. The car started out as a 6cyl auto I have a small block and a bigger rear to go in it but I would like to make the car a 4 speed. Im wondering if anyone could give me a list of everything I need to do so any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

You can try www.forabodiesonly.com if you do not get any answers here.

i recomend a good chrysler 727 auto. but let it shift on its own. that what the ramchargers did in the early 60s. you should be able to get a small block 727 out of a truck. just find the best trans shop in town.

The A727 TorqueFlite is an automatic and he wants to make it a four speed manual. I had a 1971 Demon 340 that I stroked to a 416 cid that had over 500 HP and 500 torque with a 727 transmission. The 727 will take the punishment if you choose to go that route. I have the 727 in my Coronet R/T that has 400 HP and the A-833 (4 speed manual) in my Coronet Super Bee. Both are very strong and reliable. The automatic will be better if you are drag racing and I prefer it over 'rowing my own'.
