befor you add more power check that you DONT have the 7 1/4 ring gear rear end. it is totally useless. under ALL cases change to a 8 1/4 rear gear. or go to a 9 1/4 rear end if you can find one.

a 727 tranny would be great, there pretty bulletproof and a can handle a 360, but I'm not sure if it would be compatible

the only 727 with a slant 6 was in trucks, in the 60. dont know about the 70s. i think it was a small block trany with a spcl adapter. the starter was down low to fit the trany opening for a starter, i think.
