A wasted 340 Duster

A wasted 340 Duster
A friend of mine bought this car 8 years ago for the motor and trans. (340 4-speed) to put it in his 73 Duster. He ended up rebuilding the 360 he had and has let this car sit! Well 8 years ago it actually drove itself to where it sits today, but the neighborhood kids have done a number on the glass and interior and a family of mice have moved into the carb. He had good intentions of redoing the whole car but I was at the shop two weeks ago a there she still sits! Another "I'm going to fix her up someday story" Here are some pics. You can still turn the 340 by hand so it's not sezied up yet!

RE: A wasted 340 Duster
It is something you hate to see..... these morons that say "I'm gonna fix it one day..." by the time they realize they haven't got the time, money, or talent, there usually isn't enough left to save. That Duster is approaching that point; you should try to pick it up Mike, and either redo it yourself or resll it to someone that will. If it sits too much longer, it won't be worth saving.

RE: A wasted 340 Duster
Boy I wish I had the $$$ to redo another one. I almost bought a 67 Charger last year but I still have alot of little things I want to do with the Roadrunner.
This guy Tim also owns a 66 Charger that is 85% original and almost mint. He was waxing it one day and the buffer he was using had the wrong disk on it. It swrilled the paint on the hood "real" bad. He got so pissed that he parked it in the garage and it hasn't moved in 10years.
This is the Duster that was supposed to take the 340 4-speed. He had it painted Kawasaki green, he had it at Carlisle two years ago it was blue with a black hood and very rough in the interior. Hopefully he can get work off and make it this year! (Maybe I can get him to tow the other Duster down also to give it a good home.)

RE: A wasted 340 Duster
Years ago I had a 1971 Plymonth Duster with the 340 Wedge. It was gold/yellow with the black strips. Ah, the high school days.
The engine was a champ, but the body totally rusted and faded away in to brown dust. (pun inteneded) The wheel wells went first.
To bad I was a dumb kid working at McDonald's and never treated that car any decent respect to keep it. I drove it into the ground and the winter salted roads did a number on her too. I will now cry. I really miss her now. Years later I had a 1978 Aspen with the super slant six. It just wasn't the same like the 340 Wedge!
If that car can be saved Mike try and do it. I know of plenty 350 SS Nova's in high school that the little light weight Duster 340 Wedge could tear up on. They couldn't touch her.
Thanks everyone for a flash back. I needed that today.
