New to forum New to Dodge help please
Hello,
New to forum and new to doge.
I have been into muscle cars for some time (mostly GM).
I went to an aution yesterday hoping to find a diamond in the rough that needed a little restoration. Basically I was looking for a mild project car.
I came across a blue 69 Dart. That caught my eye. I don't know much about them so I started asking questions of the owner.
He said it was a true 69 Dart GT Sport or gts. It has the origional 340 engine (not original carb) and original auto trans and rear end. I was interested because I figured with the 340 and the light weight this car must be pretty quick.
Long story short I bought the car. It honestly runs and drives great...and yes I stopped an smoked the tires once on the way home.
It needs carpet (none in it now), dash, seat covers, and door pannels. All things I was wanting to learn how to do. Then after I bought the car the owner tells me he has a carpet set, new dash, and seat covers that he will give me. I just need to find door panels.
My question to you is this: How cool / Rare of a car did I find here? I paid $5000 for it (I'm sure your going to tell me I paid too much..story of my life). Once I replace these things it will still be a #3 driver. Any info you can give me about these would be very helpful.
With junk Camaros that don't even run starting at 10k I kind of feel like I got a bargin...what do you think.
other options on the car, air cond...just the buttons, pump is gone, remote mirror, day night mirror, bucket seats with console shift., also seems to be geared pretty steep since it was running pretty hi-rpm at 60mph...
Thanks...sorry for the long post.
Shane

[sm=ttiwwp.gif] LOL If you want to make it look original you can get most of it at yearone.com, click on A and C bodies on left side of the page. Check locally too you might be able to get a upholstery shop to do the seats cheap.
Shane, if you got an original 69 GTS with matching 340, transmission and rearend for 5k, I wouldn't say you paid too much.... I'd be more inclined to say you got one hell of a good buy! If it is indeed original and numbers matching, these days it's probably worth 8-10K, easily, as long as it's rust free. If it's a genuine GTS, the VIN will start out LS23P9. Feel free to PM me with the fender tag info or where to look for additional numbers to verify, if you're interested.
As far as your interior parts, skip Year One.... they, as well as almost every other Mopar parts vendor out there, gets their interior parts from Legendary Interiors. Skip the middle man and buy from them, or you can try Dante's Motor Parts. He's the only guy I know of who sells Legendary parts at discount; you might even be able to beat Legendary's direct price through him.
