Default Gas Cap

I would like to replacethe locking gas cap on my 1969 Dart with an original cap. I am about ready to paint the car and need a replacement so it can be painted at the same time. Question: what year gas cap will work on my '69? Anyhelp would be appreciated.

I didn't think the caps were ever painted, but I could be wrong. I've got a locking cap and never painted it.

I just bought one from Ebay. It came off a 68 Dart. It seems to be painted the same color the car was. The majority of the surviving cars may have the aftermarket chrome locking gas cap or the chrome cap with a black twist handle. No doubt many were lost along the roadside when the owner forgot to replace it after fueling. I have a few magazine photo's from the original cars. They show the gas cap painted body color. I don't know??

My white '69 is getting a high impact color, so it won't be original anyway. Thanks for the input.

My RR also has the locking chrome cap, but then again it doesn't come with a body color cap it just would have a plain metal cap since it's behind the plate.
