Default Does duct tape hurt paint?

Hello,
I have an 08 Ram 2500 with a factory bedliner. I sometimes haul fire wood to heat my house. When loading and unloading I noticed that the wood could hit the uncovered areas on the inside of the top rail of the box and the areas at the base of the tail gate and ajoining box. So I got this great idea to cover these areas with black duct tape to protect the paint from being chipped. It looks great and seems to work well. My question is; could the duct tape damage the paint on a long term basis?
Thanks in advance

Long term the adhesive will harden up in the sun and likely "fuse" to the paint , likely pulling the paint loose when you remove it ....

bad venge,
Thanks for your reply. Do you think I would have a problem if the truck in garaged and has a cap?

YES heat in the sun inside the cap will still harden up the adhesive ....I'd buy some of the brush on bedliner and cover the area .... More permanent solution
