Scratches...
I have been waiting all winter for warm weather...but unfourtunately it just snowed again. In my washes this winter, I unfourtunately must have picked up a stone in my washing mitt, and created 2 circular swirls in my tailgate. It is down to the primer (white), and i was curious if there are any of the clays or comounds that might be able to at least hide this some...Thanks!!
Unfortunately, if you're down to primer, not much will hide the scratches. I think Turtle Wax makes a color enhanced wax that might cover some of the primer. There was a "As Seen On TV" Product around that was supposed to hide scratches, but it's no longer available, I guess it didn't work well.
run a high speed wheel over the scratches using "turbo cut" from vesco oils. Be sure to use lots of speed stoppin every 15 seconds or so to let the paint cool, you dont want to burn it. This will eventually blend the paint. You will still be able to tell the scratch was there if you closly...but it will make it look like the scratch was in the clear coat. So it's hardly noticable.
no not the chip stick, i used that b4 and it either faded or changed to a darker color and made the scratch more obvious to me at least. and if u use the color enhancer be very careful u dont get it on anything other than the paint job cause itll stain trim pieces and other unprotected plastics for quite a while....im just now getting the red off my window trim.
My buddy works at a Caddilac body shop (I know, I know...) -he introduced me to a new polishing product from Meguire's (I think) that is poised to hit the market soon. He had a sample of it provided to his dealership for testing and since he has a few black cars he brought some home. It is ONLY for black or darker colored vehicles.
I used it on the front fairing of of my harley and it took out EVERY single scratch that had been on there for over 2 years!!!! It looked like new again and I had some pretty deep scratches and swirls. I think it's going to be called something like "Black magic" or "Voodoo". If I see it in the store I'll surely post the name. The compund itself is dark grey / blackish in color.
I have some scratches in the black parts of my truck that I'm dieing to try this out on.
