Default Scratch removal?

Inferno Red Dakota here... the PO must've run through some tar or something, as I've had to goo-gone around the passenger side with it to remove quite a few speckles. I've gotten that out of the way, but it looks like they didn't use the right stuff to clean it, panicked, and used an abrasive pad or something. So my passenger door and front right fender has some circular swirls left in the clearcoat from where they tried to get the crap off. I've used Megular's Scratch X, with my buffer, but the swirls are still there. They're not that deep either, that's the weird part. I'm pretty sure they're not through the paint, and I've buffed out worse that these before with the same equipment. So what gives? Anyone know of something that will take these out? Either a product, or a procedure? I really don't want to take it to a shop and get charged an arm and a leg. Thanks in advance. Sorry, no pics at the moment..

Very fine 1500 grit sandpaper may work, but I would wait for someone else to come up with a better solution,

Crap, I don't trust myself enough to sand it....I was hoping there was a magic potion of some sort.

If use 1500 you will need to polish to remove the haze from 1500 grit paper.

If you have a small area, you can try meg's swirlx by hand. If larger, the best and safest way is to use a dual action polisher (Porter Cable 7424XP) with Meg's SwirlX (or Meg's M205 if you are near a paint body supply place) or just order M205 online.

He already tried Meguiars Swirl-x with a Buffer so my suggestion was a be all end all,

I guess I could try the 205 and see what happens...if not, I'll get someone who knows what they're doing a little better than me, to give sanding a shot. Thanks!!

I would take some painters tape and mark off a 18x18 area. Then use M205 as directed then evaluate the results.

If you cannot get the 18x18 area right, then do not proceed to the rest. You may need to use M205 more than once or step up to M105 (or the OTC equiv Ultimate Compound). Technique is very important.

The M205 should finish fine on Dodge paints (medium hardness).

Well I haven't even went to the store or looked online yet at all for that 205 stuff, so nothing yet....but what I have now is a spinning type that I bought a year or two ago in a package deal with the Meg's Scratch X. Never tried the Swirl X (if there's a difference). These scratches I have are so fine, I can't believe I'm having a problem getting them out...you can't even see them well unless I point them out....I had worse in my old Ranger, and they came right out.

lol, all polishing machines spin. Is it a random orbital, dual action polisher or a rotary?
