Default Aluminum rims

Hey. Kinda new here and have a question.
I just picked up an 06 Power Wagon and was wondering whats the best way to clean the Aluminum rims?
There are some pretty good scratches in the one front ones and looks like the clearcoat is starting to come off all of them.
Cant i use something fairly abrasive and remove scratches then clearcoat them again?

Sounds like they need refinishing. Likely the clearcoat was attached by road salts and winter weather.

Because some of the clearcoat is coming off, use a wheel cleaner that is safe for bare aluminum, and that might clean them up some.

Likely you are faced with refinishing. You can have it done for about $100US per wheel, or if you have some time, get some aircraft aluminum stripper, clean them up and you can either polish them or re-clear them with an automotive wheel coating or clear (Dupli-Color sells one).

If you can post a photo, that might be helpful for a more solid recommendation.

You can put a coat of wax on the wheels after you clean them. I use Meguiars chrome wheel cleaner, but I am not sure if it is safe for aluminum,
