Believe it or not, I used to wash my truck (and other rides) with Dawn all the time. It is a really good degreaser and cleaner. Now i mostly use Mequires Gold car soap. Not cheap but very good.

Speaking of Mequires...I use "Final Inspection" on my black motorcycle and it is the most amazing product ever. Its the only thing that makes my black look good...at least for a day or so!! LOL

Default No Problems with Rain-X Here

I've been using Rain-X since soon after it came out--probably around 1998ish. I've never had a problem with a layer of dirt being trapped.

I usually put on two coats before I wipe the haze off with a cloth. It's worked for me all these years. Water usually just runs up and over when going as slow as 30mph.

I've used regular glass cleaner to make sure I take any "old spots" off before reapplying after I wash the truck.

The only time I had troubles with RainX film was improper application, You might have had imbedded dirt under the application.
I use 3M adhesive remover and a razor blade , followed by a complete scrub with a white scotchbrite pad with the remover. Then wipe down with regulat glass cleaner
This works as well for cleaning/removing the film.

I second Aquapel I get a minimum of 1 year of beading ....

You should clean and dry before using, to remove oils before removing RainX.

I'm pretty sure RAIN X came out near 1973 because we used it on our Paramedic Ambulance in 1975
