Default Summer Repaint... Old paint showing through

I am prepping the old beast for paint this summer right now. I have done some minor body work but the problem i am running into is that the sanding i have done of the old flaky paint shows through to the grey primer and you can see the edge between old paint, old primer and metal. How do i cover that up?

There is a couple pinstripe lines sperating the two tone paint and thoes need to be removed, but it i do and i going to see the sanding seem when i paint it?

Basicaly I have never painted a truck before so i am unsure of what the new paint will cover and what will show through. Im trying to do my absolute 100% best so i dont have to do it again, so any hints would be excilent

thanks
Rory

I think the only option is to get it down to bare metal and start over again,

go buy some primer and sand with whatever grit it says too. once you get through paint to primer you need to repaint, once you get through metal, it's time to sand it all down (not necessarily to bare metal, depends on how many times it's been painted) and prime it.
