best thing 4 scratch and swirl marks?
I use Megiuars products and they have a light compound or light swirl remover. I use it with a dual action polisher:

I just had a friend come over with her Charger yesterday to show me some nasty scratches on her hood, roof and trunk that the local squirrels caused. Got this neighbor who feeds peanuts to all the damn tree rats in the area and it seems they enjoy sitting on top of her car to eat them, scratching the hell out of it with their nails.
I was out of the stuff I had here to take out scratches (a Simonize product that came with a neat little battery operated "applicator"), so I sent her to the local Advance and on the advice of the dude behind the counter, picked up the Meguiars scratch& swirl remover. Used the applicator I had to put it on and buff it into the scratches with.
I have to admit, best product I've seen yet short of doing the Rubbing Compound/Polishing Compound/Buffer thing...

That's when I get out the orbital, the polishing compound and a spray water bottle. But you gotta have a feel for what you're doing or you can really f*ck it up!!! But yeah, that's the rule, if you can catch your finger nail in it while running it across, the over-the-counter scratch remover ain't gonna cut it...
Dumb question - but would you recommend just going to a body shop and asking about a couple scratches? is that common?
