Default Car cover question

I'm going to be moving to Alaska soon, but my car is going to be sitting in Seattle for an undetermined period of time. The car is going to be full of all my stuff, so I was thinking of getting a car cover to hide the stuff in the car and protect the paint and interior from UV rays. My question is this: When it rains, will the cover soak up water or trap moisture underneath? And if so, wouldn't that harm the paint just as bad as the UV rays?

Car covers come in a variety of materials, some of which repel water and still allow your car to "breath" so as not to cause damage to the finish. Just make sure the inner lining is soft, otherwise the blowing wind can cause the cover to rub the paint down to the bare metal over time, especially on fenders....

Thanks, Dusty. (Odd that a guy named DUSTY is giving me advice on keeping dust off my car...) I'm looking at this car cover, and it figures I'll have to get the most expensive one because the Intrepid is 203" long [:@]
