Default best buffer?

I want a good buffer, capable of a good RPM range. I have experinece in using them as a detailer, we always used the DEWALT models. I have seen some 'bargin' models on ebay, but im not sure what Im looking at. We always spent the money on the brand product... Its 200 bucks seems like a lot to spend on one. What other models/brands are safe to look at? Thanks!!!

that is a good buffer for your car. in fact its prolly the best one out there.
because you can set the max speed. I usualy run mine at a 3 or less. and you can change the brushes without taking the whole thing apart. im not sure what other models are out there, at least ones that are equal or better to the dewalt DW849. i paied $123 with shipping for a used one on e bay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...;rd=1&rd=1
ame thing diffrent website for 189$

I would not get a cheaper model unless its the same thing just refurbished.

I first bought a used Makita 9227 off ebay and later upgraded to an AWESOME Metabo PE-125. At about 2-3 lbs lighter, this machine has gotten rid of the fatigue that 6 hours of polishing an RV will give you. For about $250 you get the buffer, with a 3 year extended warranty. If you polishing only your vehicle, it's probably not going to be worth it to buy this expensive of a model. As for the Makita, I never had any problems and mine was second hand.

I upgraded to a Metabo unit this year. $250, 3 year warranty, and no fatigue when polishing an rv for 6 hours. If your only using this for your vehicle, a Makita or Dewalt will serve you well. I had a used Makita 9227C for 2 years before that with no problems.

Personally, I am a Dewalt guy... all my power tools are dewalt. Except for one... my buffer... it is a porter cable. The only reason I went with them is because of the insance amount of good customer reviews on it. If you prefer Dewalt products that much, than get it, just make sure it has variable speeds.

if you have time check out autopia.org and just do some searchs for buffers.

Its safe for the paint(wont burn) and with the right products does an excellent job.
