Default Carter P74213 Fail at 800km?

Alas the only pump available when my truck broke down while out of town was a Carter P74213 which has received less than favourable reviews. After less than 800km the same symptom occurred necessitating a tow to the garage. When firing the truck up the other morning, it turned over for less than a second and that was it and exactly what happened prior to the lift pump replacement. It is now in the garage awaiting another mechanics assessment. Has anyone had this experience?

its very common, the best way to go is aftermarket, a fass or air dog system fuel system, and a fuel perssure gauge is a must with thoes engines, because, sorry to say but if the pump died there is a very good chance the injection pump is toast, all assuming you have a 98.5 to 02 truck

I spoke with the mechanic tonight and the lift pump is fine at about 15psi and with the use of some ether he got it going. Ran it half an hour, turned it off then restarted. Repeated the process after sitting outside in -20C for 1.5 hours and still fired up like nothing was wrong. The computer diagnosis says the fuel injection pump is fine. It continues to be an odd problem. Runs well with no symptom except the two times it wouldn't run for more than 1 second on morning fire up.
