Thumbs down DPF Questions

I have a 6.7 Cummins equipped Ram. Initially the DPF function caused so many dealer trips, my turbo was replaced as it couldn't be cleaned. Am I reading correctly that fuel is going into the engine oil during the regeneration process? With all the software upgrades the damn thing must be in constant regen mode as I can't seem to break 15 mpg even on road trips at 60.

After the 100K warranty what's the big deal of having the thing replaced by a length of pipe. The catatyic converter is still in place functioning? My state doesn't have emmissions inspections. I wonder how many millions of gallons of fuel is being wasted nationally just to save some soot?

Thanks

fuel isnt going into the oil, its shot into the exhaust after the turbo, and also the intake restricter will close off a bit to create extremely high egt's and burn off extra crap in the dpf, but with a programmer you can shut off the dpf and the egr, and is getting most up into the 20's for mpg's, you dont have to remove the egr, but you do have to remove the dpf when shutting it off, your 15 isnt all that bad for the 6.7, max is usually around 17

Dan The DPF does just what DODGETRUCKER sez but there is a fuel dilution problem in the oil he doesn't have the facts straight on that. The way it re gens it is letting fuel pass by the rings and contaminating the oil all the new trucks are doing this and the dodges seem to be doing better then Ford And GM. I know this because I am in a study with AMSOIL and have been sampling my oil every 1000 miles. If your worried about the oil you should start using a Quality oil like AMSOIL and change it as they say. I will tell you in 11000 miles on one oil change the fuel in my oil was at 8% diluted, but the AMSOIL was still at a 40w grade. Not many oils can say that. 8% diluted is like adding a quart of fuel to your oil. Hope this helps you out.

8% dilution is higher than Cummins allows. You may want to change your oil sooner, even with the pyramid oil in there.
