Default Lift pumps

I have a 2001 dodge 2500 24V. Is the fuel lift pump supposed to run all the time? I've had mechanics tell me the pump is supposed to run any time the key is on. Mine only runs for 20 seconds when the key is bumped. Some have said this is what it is supposed to do as a safety feature. Need help gang as I am not sure if it is working like it should or not. I have not had any trouble with it but don't want to fry the VP 44.

I am planning to install a new lift pump, FASS or air dog. Which one is the best? I have an Edge EZ chip. Should I go with stock GPH of 100 or go to the 150?

Thanks for your time.

that is how the pump is supposed to to work, no issue there, you cant really go wrong with fass or air dog, both are good, 100 gpm is plenty enough to support a lot of power
