Earliest Ram with more than two doors?
Hello! We're looking to buy a 2500 or 3500 with the extra cab. We plan to have kids, so we need that extra door. However, we live in CA, so it would be highly beneficial to have a pre-1998 truck for smog reasons. Is this possible? Thanks.

As far as I know the full rear doors came out with the 3rd Gen Rams (2002-2008).
I'm not overly familiar with California emissions laws...but even a 3rd a 4th gen Cummins shouldn't be a problem if it stays stock..shouldn't it?

I think 98 was the first year of the quad cab Ram, so you might be able to find a 12-valve quad cab.

98 first year for quad cab w/ opening doors. Good luck w/ car seats w/ that one. 03 first year for "real" 4 door w/ diesel. Much better room.

If you dnt care bout money or have it to spend. Get a pre 98 with the 12 valve and swith out the cab. Get the newer cab with the 4 doors. Only available years are 98-02 but if you dont wanna do that then your goin to have to smog. Anything in the year of 98 has to be smogged. Or you can cut your own doors. Lol. Up to u. But i agree. All this smog bs is crap. All its for is money. It costs 75 bucks to put your truck in there for 5 min just so they can hook up the obd tester and if it doesnt throw codes then your good. Wat a bunch of wasted time and money crap. Ohwell. People gotta do it. Thats y im goin to arizona where theres no smog issues. Good luck in your search
