Ok as the title reads I am new to the diesel world and only have a few friends who own diesel trucks. With this being said I am going to be living in Alaska for the next two years and need to get a diesel 4x4 truck. I am looking at the Ram 2500. When I ask my friends they say not to get anything newer than a 2006 because they think its not as well built as 2006 and previous. Is this true? Did the cummins motor go down hill after 2006? I am finding newer models for just as much money and would rather have something newer if I can but I don't want a lemon either. Any information would be appreciated. Also I am going to chip/tuner it any suggestions?
