Default Diesel Exhaust Fluid DEF Question

Hi Folks,
I own a 2006 Ram 3500 diesel dually with 35K miles I special ordered and purchased new.
It's a 10-year old pleasure (non work) vehicle in like new condition used for hunting and boating.
It could easily be my "bucket" truck unless the new truck (diesel, SRW) urge takes hold.
The heavy hand of the government EPA lobbyists mandating the use of DEF is my concern.
I did extensive internet research on DEF with conflicting results.
Please respond if you have a DEF truck with your likes / dislikes & pros / cons.
Thanks.

My 2014 is a DEF truck. I personally don't mind filling the def tank for the sake of cleaner emissions. Unlike the EGR which puts soot back into the engine, everything about DEF injection happens in the exhaust. Cost is minimal, as I've spent about $20 at the pump in roughly 18 months to keep tank full. My uses are about 85% interstate, non towing. I will pull about 3000# of bass boat or a 6000# landscape trailer short distances a couple of times a month.

I've not had a single DEF or emissions problem to date.

My only real issue with DEF is that if a single component like a lousy sensor fails, the government mandates the truck goes into limp mode which I think is ridiculous...

I have a 2015 6.7 I have had since June and have filled it up 5 or 6 times. In the past 3 months the check engine light has come on 3 times with code p020ee. 1st time light went out on its own, dealer did update.then came back on and bad cc injector. This time went out on own.it maybe the kind of def I have been using.so going back to mopar def.

You've got a flaky ammonia sensor - very common. Starting with the late 2015 trucks, FCA has started using a CAT without this sensor. Many have had the CAT replaced with the newer model and a PCM update to delete this sensor and have not had the code return.

I've not talked to anyone who's had just a software update fix the problem permanently. A LOT of dealerships are telling customers they've bought bad DEF but it's total BS...
