So today i was driving to work and i went to shift into first gear and when i did maybe i pushed to hard or something and it made the shifter feel like it got disconnected or something. So i moved it around a little bit but now its stuck in second gear. What do i do? My friend told me a nut might have broken off the shifter linkage or something any one have any ideas? im Short on money so i cant really take it to a mechanic....

 

I'd think you'd look to see what happened like if the cable broke or disconnected and then you'd figure out a way to address the problem. That's what I'd think you'd do?
