Default Need Help!!

New to the forum so if has been previously answered, sorry. I have a 1996 avenger, 2.5 auto. Recently it went into "limp mode". I have changed transmission control unit, fluid and filter, input sensor, and relay, still in limp mode. I unplugged the battery for a couple days and still not working. When you first start it up and take off, it changes from first to second smoothly and when it goes to third it shifts into neutral and goes back into second and stays there. There was no shavings in the trans pan when I changed it, and I did use atf+4. What have I overlooked? I desperately need any help I can get. Thanks!!

I was told at parts store that if the output sensor was bad the speedometer wouldn't work so I didn't change that one because it works. As for codes, I only checked it using the key method and it didn't show anything. I live to far from a dealership to try and limp it in to have them check it. Don't want to cause any damage to the car I like it too much!

you need a high order scanner to check tranny codes ...
without codes (you are blindly throwing parts and not solving the issue)
