Default 1995 avenger es engine replace

hey there! i have a 95 es my motor recently quit around 260000km i have found alot newer one out of a 98 es with just over a 100k I am new to taking cars apart just have a general idea of how things work and so far i have my plenum off most of the harness disconnected and three motor mounts loosened i know i have to unbolt the transmission is there anything else? and will the computer take this 98 es motor i know they did something to the heads over the years. Going to be a lot more to it. The 98 is obd2, 95 is obd1. A lot more sensors on the 98 motor.

yeah thats what i figured so should i be hunting down a 95/96 es motor for plug n play results?mine has the dsm badge, and what also should be removed so this motor lifts im assuming i take the bolts off the flange looking area to the transmission and im kinda lost after that cheers.

How sure are you on that?
My 95 is OBD2.
I think you may want to do some research on that, pretty sure the avengers were OBD2, Dodge started changing over in 94.

Ya im not sure most of the parts are dated 94 and i have hooked my code reader up thats obd 2 and it doesnt work but your prob right can anyone help me get this motor out? lol I have my passenger side motor mount and front mount and wiring harness out of the way

True. OBD2 was mandated in 96. Some may have started earlier.

Gotta split the motor and trans, have to pull the axles. Pretty sure there is not enough room to get it out with the trans attached.

There is a special plug for hooking up a reader. Kinda L-shaped, listed for Chrysler/Jeep. The port is under the hood, IIRC.
