1999dodge avenger es sport v6 ... I need help...
Ok so my dad gave me my car and I have a few issues... 1. it has a ticking sound from under the hood. I believe it's on the passenger side, around the area of the belts/ some kinda pumps .... No clue where to start to look to try n figure it out.... 2 the heater worked great when I was given my car and now it doesn't blow as hard or as hot any suggestion? 3 today while drivingi began to smell something like burning rubber/oil or something I have no clue... Can any help me?
1. Isolate the sound with a mechanics stethoscope. You can get one at harbor freight for about $10.
2. Figure out if it is the blower motor or coolant level. Does the fan work on all speeds?
3. Oil leak. crawl under the car and inspect for leaks.

1.I went to auto zone today and they said its my timing belt for the noise... So I'm trying to figure out what all is needed to be replaced when I have the timing belt changed. I was told if changing the timing belt I need to also change the water pump, hydrolic timing belt actuator, cam shaft belt tensioner, and cam shaft belt idler. What else would?
2.the fan still goes up different speeds but not as hard a push. If that makes since?
3. Is it possible the smell was the timing belt and maybe oil leaking on it?
My car isn't leaking oil and is full on antifreeze, but it has been using a little more than normal.
Auto zone said with the heater change the thermostat first ... What all would need changed with that?
