Question Oil question

Hi I have a 2010 Dodge Avenger R/T 3.5L V6. I was checking my oil and I'm in between oil changes, (I use Mobil 1 Extended Performance and the Mobil 1 filter), and saw that it was about a half a quart low. When I took off the oil cap, I could see enough oil at the opening that I hesitated to put in what it needs. Is this normal for this car?? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Depends on how long it’s been since you changed it. Engines do use some oil. All depends on mileage and driving conditions. I wouldn’t be concerned. Not sure what you mean by you “could see enough oil at the opening” though.

I need to clarify my question a little more. Is it normal to see the oil like it's at max capacity when I take the oil cap off when the dipstick shows that it's low on the oil? Does that make sense?
