Default Electrical

2008 Avenger, I am not sure what the issue is. I've replaced battery and alternator. Thinking about a new battery again. It doesn't hold a charge for very long, maybe five days in summer and 3 days in winter. There's also an issue with unlocking the doors. We can only use fob to unlock door. Using key causes horn to go off, like the alarm, and we have to use fob to lock and unlock door to shut off horn. Also some funky dash light issues. A meter shows normal alternator output. I just don't know what troubleshooting needs to be done.

If the car is locked with the fob this will arm the anti theft system. Opening the door with anything other than unlocking with the fob to disarm will trigger the alarm, that's normal.

What sort of dash light issues?

Testing the alternator with a multi meter means nothing. The presence of 14v means nothing in regards to amp discharge. You need an amp clamp and good solid alternator load to test it. You could test in chassis with a carbon pile tester, or remove the alternator and take it to a napa oreilly ect and have it bench tested. New doesn't always mean good. The presence of 14v would indicate that the its trying to charge, so your regulator is working, at least partially.
