Just bought a Caliber SXT 2.0 CVT and so far I like it. Better than the VW Jetta 4 2.0 manual I had previous. Apparently the Caliber we import here is manufactured in Austria. Can anyone confirm this?

 

Chrysler has a joint venture with Magna Steyr in Graz Austria where they do contract assembly for various Chrysler/Dodge models. Perhaps this is where the Caliber is also assembled.

 

Your absolutely right with regards to Austrian assembly,however
any info I have found indicates that it does Chrysler/Jeep only
and as far as I can see the Caliber is at this point in time only
assembled in Belvedeere,Illinois US.
Check your VIN # if it has a "B" in it when decoded that
would indicate it was made in the US.
Mine has 3 B's in the vin code.

 

My VIN starts with 1B3 and the 11th digit is a "D" which is the assembly plant code. Not sure which plant is a D.
Fuel consumption: I'm getting about 8.5 liters / 100 km in the city.

 

Well I guess you maybe right on the assembly point,
I am not sure of the "D" designator either.
I will see if I can find something on the net.
