Default Need some opinions...

I currently own an 05 Dakota and right now I'm considering trading it in and I've had my eye on the Caliber, and right now I'm looking at the R/T for $18,885. How is this car as far as the power and mileage and ride? I think they look great, but I'm hesitant since I don't know much about them.

Is there much in the line for aftermarket? I saw someone advertise the K&N CAI, but what about exhaust?

Anything information helps.

Thanks

First, go test drive it. I bought it without even test driving it but I was a happy camper when I drove it. As far as after market, I think it is just getting started. Lots of trim stuff but I haven't looked for exhaust mods yet. I tried to get a cover for the rear tire cover that was not from Dodge and they didn't have them yet. They should have them by now.

Make sure you get the 6CD Stereo with the 8 speakers. Great ride with that installed.

What do you expect to get with the gas mileage ?

I think the R/T has the bigger engine. You might want to wait for the one with 260HP. I think it is in the neighbor hood of $23K and will be very hot.

Gas mileage will not be what you expect until you have maybe 3K miles on it. There have been lots of discussion about the gas mileage. Some are getting High and some Low. Depends on you driving. I am getting about 25-27 combined right now but I just have 1500 miles on my car.

I'm going to be traveling to Seattle and back to Portland once a week. It's about a 400 mile round trip if you include the extra driving I'll be doing to go from point "b" to point "c" and then back to point "a".

Thanks for your help.

I have been driving my Caliber for over a year and have
almost 12,000 miles on it,it's a 2.0L/CVT SXT and getting
27-29 city and 31-33 US Hiway.
It's only been to the dealer for oil changes and an
upgrade for TCM/ECM software and drivability
along with mpg both improved dramatically.
The aftermarket parts are in the market now
and cover complete body kits,exhaust,wheels,
lighting and CAI kits.

In stock form, the R/T makes ok power. I wish it had a bit more though.
