Default Please help...No Brake lights.

I have a 2007 Dodge Caliber that I bought on July. My husband and I had a U-haul trailer towing package installed right before we moved to AZ. When we left, the trailer lights worked, but our brake lights did not. U-haul said we were missing some sort of switch to be able to power both the brake lights and the trailer lights...We were on a deadline, so we did not get to the dealership. When the trailer was not hooked up, the brake lights worked just fine. After we unhooked the trailer and drove the car for a week, at some point, we lost the brake lights. The middle top light, and all other lights work just fine, but the left and right brake lights do not. We even tried replacing the bulbs, and disconnecting the tow wiring. Neither worked. We took the Caliber to the dealership in tempe, and they told us they believe that the U-haul tow package shorted out our wiring somehow... I can't afford to pay the dealership to fix the problem, so my question would be:

Does anyone know if there is an in-line fuse that may be blown? Do you have any other suggestions for us to try? My father-in-law can fix it for me, but the dealership will not tell us what we need to do.

Thank you,
A. Kirkwood

A Caliber owner with a similar situation and problem posted on another
board that there is no inline fuse and the problem is a result of the way
the trailer wiring was installed without a RELAY in the power line.
They finally went to the dealership and the dealer resolved the problem
discovering that the computer controlling the brake lights had sensed a
overcurrent problem with the brake lights and turned them off.
Hope this helps-good luck.

Also: Some of those trailer hookups are made for combination stop lights and turn signals (like a Neon). Having separate flashers and stop lights like in the Caliber will NOT work with this setup and blow the fuse the first time you apply the brakes while using a turn signal!
