vinegar smell from vents
Had no bad smell, no smell at all. Then a moldy smell started. I replaced the filter. Sprayed a bit of lysol around and in the air duct, and then about 2 weeks later i get this vinegar smell...just like vinegar when I turn on the air, not the AC just the fan. Ideas?
Probably the same thing with the evaperator moisture build up and chemical
reaction to Lysol.
It's the only real complaint I have had with my Chrysler products
from way back is the design of the air path and moisture accumaltion
on the evaperator.
I now just pull the cabin filter out and sprinkle a FEW drops of a liquid
car freshener scent I can live with on the filter and it masks/covers
unpleasant odors for a period of time.

Yeah, I ceased with the Lysol thinking that was probably the culprit. I took out all type of anything scented and have been riding with the windows down and vents on 2-way with the recirculation alternating. Got rid of most of the stench. I think I will go back to the regular car freshener deal. But seriously...that vinegar smell was enough to take the stink off a skunk. It's all good now, or will be soon. Thanks again Bigtsr.
My co-worker hadthe same problem. Brought it back to the dealer several times under warranty for repairs. Replaced basically everything in the evaporator case...anyways long story short, Chrysler ended up buying the car back. Like you said the stench would scare off a skunk![:-]
Good Luck!
